Hung Gar
Hung Gar is one of the most popular of the Southern Chinese systems and is well known for its strong stances and powerful hand techniques. Hung Gar is a good kung fu system for developing strength, both in the arms and legs. One of the most famous practitioners of Hung Gar is the legendary Wong Fei Hung who is credited with creating one of the most famous forms of Hung Gar, Fu Hok Seurng Kuen or Tiger/Crane form. The first form a student of Hung Gar traditionally learns is Gung Gee Fook Fu, or Taming the Tiger form, which was taught by the Founder of Hung Gar, Hung Hei Gune, and can be traced back directly to the Shaolin Temple. For advanced students of Hung Gar there is the Sup Ying form, or Ten Forms set, which contain the five animals, Tiger, Crane, Dragon, Snake and Leopard and the five elements, Metal, Wood, Earth, Fire and Water. There is also the Internal training set, Tit Sien Kuen, or Iron Thread form. These four forms are often referred to as the "Four Pillars" of Hung Gar kung fu. In addition, Hung Gar kung fu contains all of the traditional weapons common to Southern Chinese kung fu, such as the Trident or Tiger Fork, Butterfly Knives, Broadsword, Spear and Kwan Dou. Hung Gar is also very famous for its single end staff set called Ng Long Ba Gwa Kuen. Because of its rich tradition, versatility and health benefits, Hung Gar kung fu is becoming one of the most popular styles of kung fu in America. 中國武術健身學院 Institute of Chinese Martial Arts33631 9th Avenue
